Sacramento is California’s capital city filled with history and fun sights for your four-legged friend to explore. We recommend you visit Old Sacramento, a historic neighborhood from the Gold Rush era, where you can find some shops filled with dog-friendly goodies. You’ll also want to visit Capitol Park where you can explore dog-friendly gardens, memorials, and monuments. Don’t forget to drop by one of Sacramento’s lovely, well-maintained dog parks: North Natomas Regional Park, Partner Dog Park, and William Land Park.

You’ll never find a shortage of dog-friendly activities in Texas. After all, Austin is one of the most dog-inclusive cities in the U.S.! Austin has many off-leash dog parks, our favorites being Red Bud Isle and Auditorium Shores. You can also enjoy drinks while your pups run off-leash in a secured space at Dog House Drinkery, Beerbug Brewery, and Yard Bar. Get active with some water sports (kayaking or SUP are the best options for you and your pup), then enjoy a stroll at Zilker Botanical Garden. Austin proves to be a city equally exciting for both pets and pet owners.

Dallas is another top destination for families and pet owners. It’s a beautiful city with a great mix of relaxing, serene activities and exciting events/attractions. One of Dallas’ most beautiful parks you and your pup can’t miss is White Rock Lake Park. It boasts over 9 miles of ground to explore, including a prime spot for water sports, and a variety of wildlife to see. There are many dog-friendly restaurants with spacious patios to visit, and great outdoor markets (Check out: “Enjoy These 6 Dog-Friendly Farmer’s Markets This Summer“).

Those who enjoy the great outdoors will absolutely love a visit to Denver! You and your pup have much to explore at Denver’s Red Rocks State Park and Cherry Creek State Park. There are many activities to enjoy from hiking to swimming! Other city standouts are Denver Beer Co., Bigsby’s Folly, and Three Dog Bakery for dog-catered treats and wine/beer tasting opportunities for the owners.

We found this excellent blog post that covers 99 (yes, 99!) paw-some things you can do with your pup in Portland which you can check out HERE. Here are some of our favorites:

  • International Rose Test Garden: Who doesn’t love roses? Your pup is welcome to stop and smell over 10,000 roses that cover 4.5 acres in this beautiful garden. We recommend visiting in June and July when the bloom is at its peak.
  • Lucky Lab: This is Portland’s original dog-friendly brewery where you can enjoy yappy hour with your pup!
  • Portland Saturday Market: This exciting arts and crafts market is unique and super dog-friendly!

Seattle is a must-visit for anyone who is looking for a change of pace! We appreciate how dog-friendly Seattle can be (e.g. there are restaurants that allow your pup to dine in with you!). You’ll want to visit Norm’s Eatery & Ale House for a dine-in experience with your dog right next to you. For urban hiking, we recommend a visit to Discovery Park, especially on a bright and clear day. There are also many off-leash dog parks spread throughout Seattle. Finally, be sure to spend some time on Washington’s Snow Lake Trail that offers breathtaking views of the mountains and lake.

There’s a wonderful selection of things to do in Salt Lake City, a city that offers luscious natural landscape wherever you turn. One of Utah’s most popular tourist attractions is Temple Square, located in the heart of Downtown, where you and your pup can enjoy the sunshine and a picnic. There is no shortage of off-leash trails and parks, our favorite being Tanner Dog Park. You also can’t miss The Bonneville Shoreline Trail and The Gateway for some dog-friendly retail therapy!
