The Bay Area is one of the most idyllic destinations in California. Many attractions bring people from all over the world to this bustling metropolitan city, but some of our favorite attractions are ones provided by Mother Nature herself. San Francisco is surrounded by beautiful scenery, perfect for dogs and families to enjoy. We know you and your pups will love these unbeatable dog-friendly hikes in San Francisco when you book and visit with Romingo!

Fort Funston

Fort Funston Rd., San Francisco, CA 94118

Fort Funston is a local favorite and is widely known as “Doggy Disneyland” (dogs get to roam free off-leash here!). What makes this hike special is its beach access and dramatic views. It’s also conveniently located near Daly City with plenty of parking. This 2 mile trail welcomes all skill levels and we can guarantee you and your dog will make some friends during your time on this hike. Enjoy the coast, friendly company, and beautiful wild flowers at all times of the year. Click here to learn more about Fort Funston.

This trail is very popular for tourists and locals alike as it offers a variety of sights like the historic Sutro Baths, the Golden Gate Bridge, Mile Rock Beach, and more. The loop is a little over 3 miles (doable and beginner friendly) but there are plenty of opportunities to detour and explore for a full day of hiking. The level of difficulty will really depend on the routes you decide to take. Dogs love it here but you’ll have to keep them leashed. Click here to learn more about Lands End.

Mt. Sutro Open Space Reserve

Medical Ctr Way, San Francisco, CA 94143

Mt. Sutro will transport you and your pup into the middle of a lush forest in the heart of San Francisco! This shady 61-acre open space reserve owned by UCSF is easy to miss, but is a must in our books. This stunning hike consists of loops, hills, and benches to sit and rest. Unlike the other 2 recommendations, this hike does not have a climatic summit but the serenity and lush greenery totally make up for it. You and your dog will hardly believe you’re still in the middle of San Francisco! Click here to learn more about Mount Sutro.
