Destination Spotlight – Travel to Austin, Texas

Austin, Texas

As the capital city of Texas, Austin is a must-visit not only because of the amazing tourist destinations and delicious food but also because of the pet-friendly things that you can do here.

With the increasing number of pet owners around the globe, more and more people are also looking for places where they can relax and have fun with their furry friends.

Austin is an amazing place to visit and you will never run out of pet-friendly things to do here. Book your pet-friendly hotel, prepare your baggage, and explore Austin with your four-legged buddies.

1. Play at the Cedar Bark Park

Dogs love parks, especially if they can run off-leash and play with other dogs. If your dogs are very active and they love to play, you definitely need to bring them to Cedar Bark Park! It’s only a 40-minute drive to the North of the city.

It is a dog park, but it has other amenities inside that you can enjoy like the large swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball court, community garden, and an amphitheater.

This park is very popular with pet owners because there are a lot of features that your dog will surely love. It is also separated into three off-leash areas – a small dog section and two more areas that can accommodate larger breeds.

There is a swimming pond with docks and an open space where your dogs can play leash-free. You can find drinking fountains for both dogs and pet owners and there are dog waste bag dispensers and plenty of trash cans where you can throw them.

If you’re visiting Austin, this is one of the places that you should never miss. Spend at least a few hours here to let your dogs roam around and have fun.

2. Chill Out at The Buzz Mill

Your vacation in Austin is not only about your furry friends. Taking your time to relax, sip some amazing coffee, and eat delicious food should still be at the top of your list.

The Buzz Mill is an amazing place to just chill out because it is a pet-friendly place. You don’t need to let your dogs stay in your hotel room while being leashed or placed in a crate. Bring them to The Buzz Mill and you can relax and eat delicious food while they stay with you on the patio.

If you’re in luck, you might even participate in various pup-related events at The Buzz Mill. They have regular meetups in Austin and a lot of pet owners come there to bring their dogs.

It’s a great way to meet up with other fur parents and talk about anything pet related. If you’re in Austin, spend a few hours here at The Buzz Mill and you will surely love it.

3. Beat the Heat at K9 Water World

Austin is pretty hot most of the year so going to K9 Water World definitely makes a lot of sense when you’re here for vacation. This is a good way for your dogs to exercise and learn how to swim.

The use of this pool is by appointment only so you cannot simply come here and book the pool. Their schedules are usually full so you need to make an appointment first and book a private pool before you come here. This is why you need to plan ahead if you are going to K9 Water World.

This pool can be booked for open swimming, therapy, exercise, and dock diving. It’s better if you can have at least 4 dogs to come here. If you have friends who will be traveling with you along with their fur buddies, it’s best to try this out and let your dogs have fun.

4. Food and Drinks at Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden

Nothing beats a restaurant that offers both coffee and beer. You can stay here in the morning and you can stay here at night as well.

One of the best reasons to come here is their permaculture gardens and outdoor seating, which is a great choice for pet owners. You can bring your furry friends with you while you try out their coffee and beer options.

Although they don’t have any doggie menus for your pups, there are a lot of food trucks where you can get some great meat for your pups. There are tacos, barbecues, and even fried chicken lollipops.

5. Eat Some Amazing Pretzels at Easy Tiger

Easy Tiger is one of the most popular restaurants that you can try in Austin. It was originally a bake shop and a beer garden located in the Waller Creek District. Over time, the place became a top spot for locals and tourists.

Today, Easy Tiger is more than just a typical bakery. There are so many amazing treats to try and you can even bring your furry friends with you.

The best thing about this is that they are now open in other locations around Austin. There’s a roadside oasis and a patio at the North, an outdoor events venue and a funky bar, and a family-friendly spot in South Lamar.

You can definitely have a great time here with your pup since you are dining outdoors. The place is pretty spacious so you can bring your dogs here to have fun. However, make sure that you put them on a leash because there are a lot of people who are dining here without pets.

Going around Austin would bring you a lot of fun with your furry friends. Make sure that you plan your trip and find a pet-friendly hotel where you and your four-legged friends can rest after a whole day of excursion.
